Tilburg 2009
A one day Show, worth 3 days...
There is lots of emotions packed in just one short day,
you wake up very early - near Baden Baden, to set out to Tilburg at 5.20 in the morning. Eager to see the sun dawn, see it break through first early autum fogs. At around 8 am, there is a gas balloon, flying up into the sky near the German-Holland border.
Show opens at 10 am, enough time left for a quick coffee?
No, better not, maybe she (Jeanne) opens a bit earlier. (she did this year!)
and then, from 10 am to 5 pm, lots of exhibitors, and many many visitors.
"Many of the visitors are regulars, some of them saving up all of the year to spend here at the Show." Explains Jeanne van Sprundel.
Its her spirit, driving this show. Its her receiving private visitors, giving a first advice on a pen for sale, and then guiding them to the seemingly ideal buyer of this pen. We feel her gentle control of the situation when pointing at a wonderful Namiki deskset. its just beautiful, but neither me nor the seller really knows its value. Seller runs over to Jeanne, her verdict: 800.--! No less! If less, then you should better keep it!
which both sides, seller and buyer (me) gladly accept.
Jeanne now has to find me the nib - please, bring it to Hamburg on october, 3rd. :-)
A wonderful show, with lots of people to meet again every year.
Show ends at 5. pm, and we are on the road at 5.30 -
Near the German border, 3 hot air balloons rise into the sky. The prominent beer advertisement, which in the morning at 8 am seemed so ridiculous, its now VERY tempting. But it will be almost midnight, before we arrive in Hamburg and can give in to the temptation.
Next year, last saturday of September, See you again!
